Years ago, I worked for a company that gave everyone Veteran's Day off, EXCEPT me because I was the newest employee. The funny thing: I was the only one in the whole department that was actually a veteran.

A holiday is just a day without work if the people aren't actually celebrating the specific day, and in the United States there are numerous holidays that aren't celebrated, but are experienced by everyone.
