Sometimes I suspect that many of us spend way too much energy apologizing for being people. Or making excuses. Not too long ago, someone accused me of “white privilege”. Taking it personally, I then went out of my way to address an inequality and was immediately accused of being a “white savior”. Now, I’m just satisfied to live my life without hurting anyone else and just stop listening when someone feels the need to point out what I’m “doing wrong”, especially when I know without a doubt that no ill intent is planned or intended.

Author of Innocent Until Proven Guilty and 15 other novels. Writer, college professor and computer game designer.
