I’m Afraid to Give My Opinion These Days

If you knew me you’d be completely surprised by the title of this article. I was never afraid to give my opinion. And I’d debate another person in a heart beat. But honestly, something has happened in this decade that has completely stopped me from giving my opinion. And I have a graduate degree in political science, and I teach political science to students on a daily basis.

Everything about me says I should be giving my opinion to everyone without a noticce.

But not now. People who work at universities who are liberals realize that the second they say something that sounds liberal, people are going to come after them. If you’re a conservative, someone who calls him or herself a MAGA, or someone driving around a Tesla, there are people out there who will harm your car, and possibly you.

People have reached this weird state of hating people they don’t know just because they suspect them to be in cahoots with ideology of which they don’t approve.

I understand when all of this started happening, but I honestly don’t understand it. Yes, it happened when the rich candidate pursued and then obtained the presidency. But it still doesn’t make any sense. People hate each other with such passion for no reason whatsoever. Up until this time, you never would run someone over (or run over a group of people by…
